DYE DIRT

LA artist dye has shared his propulsive new single, ‘dirt’. Despite its impressive modern production, the track feels nostalgic in its sonic world, taking influences from gothic 80s pop and combining it with the deeply textured sound and mood of 90s shoegaze. The new wave drum pattern that sits beneath the track has been the backbone to tracks by Flock Of Seagulls, The Kid Laroi and more. “This song is about seeing someone entirely as they are without judgment, but realizing it’s one-sided,” he says. “You continue to exert yourself hoping to make a noticeable change or progress, but realize it will never happen if you’re the only one trying, this song is about accepting that not everything broken needs repairing, sometimes it’s best to throw it away.” Keep an eye out for more from dye, including a cinematic music video out soon. -Dan Peeke
